About
TakeHomer is a take-home pay calculator for Australia, built to show an honest gross-to-net breakdown — including the parts other calculators get wrong, like super sitting on top of your wage. Every figure traces to a named primary source, cited where it appears.

What TakeHomer is
TakeHomer is a take-home pay calculator for Australia. It turns a gross salary into the number that actually lands in your account — after income tax, the Medicare levy and the Low Income Tax Offset, plus any HELP/HECS repayment — and shows superannuation where it belongs: a separate figure your employer pays on top of your wage, never a deduction from it.
How the figures are sourced
Every rate and threshold comes from a single, provenance-tracked payload — resident tax brackets, the Medicare levy, LITO, HELP repayment bands, the super guarantee and the National Minimum Wage — each traced to its primary source at the ATO or the Fair Work Ombudsman. Nothing is hand-typed into the pages; the prose reads the numbers from the payload so it can never drift from them.

What the figures are, and what they are not
Every figure carries its source. If a rule changed recently it may not be reflected here yet, and none of them has been through our final sign-off — so the calculator is for a ballpark only, not for tax, financial or legal decisions, and for an official amount the ATO or the Fair Work Ombudsman is the binding one. The principle behind the whole project is simple: a calculator should never quietly decide a rate is right. A number is either traced to a primary source or it doesn’t ship.
An estimate, not tax advice
TakeHomer gives you a clear, honest estimate — not personal tax advice. It models the standard case for a resident individual: the resident tax scale, the Medicare levy and surcharge, LITO, a HELP/HECS repayment and the super guarantee for FY 2026–27. It does not know your full circumstances, and some things are deliberately out of scope in this version — salary sacrifice, family and senior thresholds, foreign-resident and working-holiday scales, and other offsets. It also works out the annual assessment and divides it back to a pay cycle, so a real payslip can differ by a few dollars because PAYG withholding rounds differently. For a decision that matters, check with the ATO or a registered tax agent.
